Artist Who Died In Plane Crashes

  With early artist dating back to the 50's having concert venues in L.A. one night and New York the next and all points in-between many chose to fly. Tragically some lost their lives when the plane they were flying in crashed. Some chose to fly in inclement weather and that turned out to be a deadly decision. I really believe they did not want to disappoint their fans. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  "Gentleman" Jim Reeves died in a plane crash just outside of Nashville, Tennessee
in Brentwood. He was flying his own plane and there was inclement weather. He had great hits like "Put Your Sweet Lips A Little Closer To The Phone", "Am I Losing You",
"Four Walls", and "Am I That Easy To Forget" just to name a few.
  Jim was a disc jockey at the local radio station in Carthage, Texas. He had the smoothest, mellowist voice I ever heard although I was still kneehigh to a grass-
hopper. If you ever find yourself in Nashville and are a big fan stop in at The Jim Reeves Musuem. His widow, Mary was running it when I was there. She was very cordial,
hospitable and down to earth.
  Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper all perished in a plane crash.
That was the day the music died as Don Mclean wrote in his awesome tribute to all
three artist.Buddy Holly's hits like "Peggy Sue", "True Love Ways","It's So Easy To
Fall In Love", "It Doesn't Matter Anymore", and "Everyday" were awesome tunes.
  The Big Bopper was a good ole Texas boy and had some hits called
"Rock Around The Clock", and "The Book Of Love" just to name a couple.
  Buddy was from Lubbock, Texas. A member in his band also from Lubbock was
Waylon Jennings. He gave his seat up to The Big Bopper at the last minute.
  Another great artist who died in a plane crash was Patsy Cline. Hawkshaw
Hawkins was also a victim. Their was one more big name artist but my memory
fails me on that. Patsy was best known for "Crazy" written by Willie Nelson.
Other hits of hers were "I Fall To Pieces", "Sweet Dreams"  and "Blue".
  I Grew up with The Nelson Family Show in the 60's and was thoroughly
entertained. Rick Nelson went on to make records during and after the show.
He also died in a plane crash along with his wife. He had hits like "China Doll",
"I'm A Travelin' Man" and "Hello Mary Lou". In the 70's he wrote a song after
playing The Madison Square Garden called "Garden Party" dropped a lot of names
in the lyrics but everybody was in the audience when he played there.
  John Denver was flying an experimental light plane when he died. What can I
say about him except what a gifted artist he was. His showmanship, creativity,
guitar work and lyric writing were awesome. Some of his hits were "Sunshine On
My Shoulders", "Annies Song", "My Sweet Lady", "Rocky Mountain High", "Back Home  Again", and "This Old Guitar".
