A short story about two sisters who disagree about their father's final resting place.
I stared across the living room of my mother's house at my sister in total disbelief. My dad had just died and she was ready to burn him to a crisp. My father was a soft spoken, stern but kind man and I was sure that he didn't want his eternal resting place spent in a jar. My sister Charlie could be so unreasonable at times. She loathed my father because he was strict over the years and he refused to let her have her way. My mom, on the other hand, spoiled her to death and that resulted in Charlie being completely irresponsible. My sisters Sunny and Charity along with my brother Stoney, preferred not to get involved in the disagreement. They didn't care how we put dad away as long as we did it quickly. I suggested a beautiful resting place in a cemetery overlooking hills and trees, but Charlie would not back down from cremation. Mom had decided that we all had to be in agreement on how we would bury daddy but Charlie was holding up the progress. I refused to let her burn him because the thought of it made me sick.

My sister and I were at a stalemate and my mom had little to say. Just as I began to say something my brother stood up to make a suggestion. He wanted us to take a quick vote to end this nonsense but Sunny and Charity wanted no part of it. As we continued our discussion my father's brother rang the door bell and walked into the house. He knew what was going on and demanded that his brother be buried rather than cremated. Charlie rolled her eyes at each and everyone of us as we agreed. She then stood up and walked out of the house. My mom ran behind her as I called to make the funeral arrangements. I had the last word which meant Charlie would not be burning up Daddy.
