The Plight of Venus

Forever out-shown,
by the light of the sun,
only to be seen,
at dusk and at dawn.

Her surface rages,
with battles unsung,
between clouds and gravity,
calamities un-won.

Forever in the shadow,
of a sister, a twin,
with children and peace,
and love from within.

The second rock burns,
with jealousy of the two,
the two that deny her,
the attention that is due.

She burns with beauty,
beauty unseen,
by mortal man's eyes,
or any living thing.

Her beauty is bitter,
but it is sweet,
for the plight of Venus,
is not for the weak.
