This poem is about a special girl who transforms our mundane lives to a beautiful place.
A day it was when I was alone,
The chilly winds of winter crept down to my bone;
Clouds in the sky so darkly hung,
And none by my side did ever come along.

The roads seemed harsh, merciless and bleak,
But I knew I could not fall weak;
So steeling my heart, I prepared for the worst,
To go forth to my doom ‘til my heart does burst.

I despised the world, for its heartless ways,
For the outcast it made me, for the pain it gave;
To all, I was only an object to ignore,
All ways were barred to me, till you opened the door.

I can’t tell you how I felt that day,
Like a traveller having gone a million miles
Without water, and suddenly the Goddess comes
And pours nectar in his throat with a charming smile.

The clouds were gone, the spring was come,
The birds again sang with joy so deep,
You filled my heart with peace unbound,
As the sunshine wakes the frozen trees from sleep.

And I keep your sunshine locked in my heart,
Which no longer is frozen and scarred,
Healed me have you from all the wounds,
The black memories do now appear blurred.

And now the traveller must rise again,
With his sack all bound, to be again on his way;
For good things also can’t last forever,
Life can’t always be a sunny day.

But the memories of your care I won’t ever forget,
Though my life seem bleak and dull;
Your sunshine will bring even the barren lands to life,
It will penetrate even the thickest walls.

I was a pauper and still am, princess,
It’s your good grace you chose to heal me;
Your soft heart bled at my pain,
You held my hand when I was drowning in the sea.

My hands are empty now at this hour of parting,
What gift can I give to the hands which gave so much?
Only these words can I weave in your praise,
Though that may well be never enough.

Live your life to the full, princess,
May your sunshine never fly;
My hands fold in prayer for your good health,
May all your dreams come true in life.
