A short story about a little girl in a wasted village (Completely unrelated to Xuander).
Everywhere, as far as the eye can see, bones, bleached white by the merciless sun, littered the remains of a once peaceful village. There was no sign of life, only ashes and bones. An eerie light cast by the mood shone on a beautiful peach tree that stood out of place in the very center of the ashes, untouched by the misfortune to have befallen the village. On an outstretched branch of the tree sat a child, swinging her legs back and forth. Long, black hair tumbled over her baby blue dress, the color of her eyes masked by her closed eye lids. A pink stuffed bunny was clutched in her arms as she sang “Mary had a Little lamb.” Her ghostly notes echoed across the barren landscape. In this place of death and disaster, her innocent was out of place. A tear slipped out of her closed eyes and slid down her rosy cheek. As her song came to an end she jumped from the branch and as her feet touched the ground, the peach tree burst into flames. In a matter of seconds the beauty of the tree was lost to the ashes.
Eyes clenched, the child gave a satisfied smile. She treaded over the bleached bones of man and beast, giggling at the sickening crunch they gave under her feet. Suddenly she halted, crouched down, pink bunny in one arm still, and plucked a flower that had managed to survive the mysterious horror that had taken place. As she brought it up to her nose to smell, her smile grew so innocent that it would have led anyone to think she was just a sweet innocent child, but then her eyes flashed open. Now if someone looked at her they would see her for the monster she was. Her eyes gave it all away. One was a bright catlike green; the other was an intense gold. The little girl is a Shape-shifter…
