A letter to a local newspaper in response to an anti-gun article printed earlier
As an anti-gun group advocating the suspension of Americans' right to own guns, I feel compelled to point out an important argument you seem to have overlooked in your article.

Aside from the fact you are ignoring the second amendment, the real issue is whether you have the right to tell me what I can or cannot own.  If I am a free man then I may purchase, in a voluntary exchange, any commodity I desire and use it in any manner I choose, as long as I bring no harm to any other person's life or property.  If I do bring harm then there are universally recognized laws already on record that may be used to bring me to justice.  If I am determined to harm another, the technology used is irrelevant.  Outlawing or "regulating" guns will mean nothing to my criminal intent and I will either obtain an illegal firearm or use another instrument to commit my criminal act.

There is a possibility you are one of the "useful idiots" to which the communist, Lenin, referred and unaware you are being used, but I doubt it.  Therefore I must conclude you have another agenda besides promoting public health and safety.  I suspect you are much more interested in forcefully controlling people rather than using peaceful persuasion to try to change the criminal intent in the minds and hearts of violent people.

If you are concerned about gun violence then I suggest you let that worry center on your own home and family.  I will not object if you wish to leave yourself defenseless against criminals but I will object if you attempt to use government to impose your solutions on me.
