The Reason We Sing

Suspend judgment and abandon bias
The only way to see everything the way it is
Values derived from your own thought
Are worth far more than anything taught

Experiences don’t lie, people do
Examine everything you learned sitting in that pew
Too often culture determines behavior
Who knows, maybe you are your own savior

Can we not agree on anything
Even if it’s just the reason why we sing
Are there really things more important than inherit ethics
When did compassion take a backseat to manmade relics

Is it so wrong to simply be amazed
To appreciate the beauty that can’t be explained
To experience wonderment without anxiety
To modestly gaze at our world’s variety

When will you realize that no one is perfect?
This world is filled with apples and oranges
Judgments and double standards
Everything moves in cycles and trends
We progress, but to what ends?
When will you realize how your own world works?
