Friends never give up hope.
Friends

Alone and chasing sunset's light,
a yellow lab seeks out his plight.
He yearns to hear his master's voice,
yet waits in silence, not by choice.

A siren sounded in the night,
and took his loved one out of sight.
With heavy heart to feel the touch
of Master's hand he longs so much.

Alone and sad he stalks the spray
of ocean wave for friend or prey.
His tummy growls demanding food.
He cannot eat in sorrow's mood.

A ball rolls by, his urge to chase
becomes too great, he's in the race.
It looks familiar, can it be...
his fav'rit ball, he's got to see.

It is his ball, his smell is there.
He captures it, jumps in the air.

And then, a shock, the best of all.
His master's voice, he hears him call
the name he thought he'd never hear,
he feels his master's salty tear.

A drop falls down upon his nose.
He licks it off and then arose
to place his paws upon the chest
of one he loves the very best.
