This is a poem written recently - not heavy.
I sit in the darkness, me, myself and I
My fingers clutched tightly around every little lie
The blackness is my enemy; I’m trapped within its walls
If you let go of these hands, I’ll drop; I know I’ll fall.
But then you whisper, whisper through the night
My dear, sweet one, darkness is just the absence of light.

A fragile heart, it breaks, it cries
Eyes that are just starting to see behind these lies
They strain and falter as they squint in the night
But still you say, darkness is just the absence of light.

Mirror mirror on the wall,
Could you be the reason I’m not standing tall?
Your pictures have cause this internal fight
But your darkness, looking glass, is just the absence of light.

This light, it flickers in and out
But the window to my soul is covered in doubt
Work your magic, give me sight
So that instead of this darkness, I may see light.

Then it came, like a river it roared
The darkness disappeared, shadows were formed
Truth raised its fist to every little lie,
And true to your promise, in came the light.
