A fun way to expand on your understanding of the character you've created.

What's In A Name?

You've created a great character and thought long and hard about his or her name. But is it the "right" name? Here's a fun thing to do that can sometimes help make your character more real to you, or perhaps consider other aspects of their "life."

Check out the numerological significance of the name!

David McClain has created a great site at http://www.astrology-numerology.com/ all about Numerology, and his content is freely shared for non-commercial purposes. But for this activity, we are just going to look at Destiny numbers. What you need to do is add up all the points assigned to each letter in the (full) name as found in the table below. Then add the digits in that number again and keep adding and reducing until you get it down to a single digit between 1 and 9.

Example: John Wilkes Booth= (1 + 6 + 8 + 5) + (5 + 9 + 3 + 2 + 5 + 1) + (2 + 6 + 6 + 2 +8) = (20) + (25) + (24) = 69 = (6 + 9) = 15 = (1 + 5) = 6

Once you have your number, just find its match below and click on the link to read the description for that number. Of course not everyone in the world can be put in nine neat little buckets, but if you were to get a "real" numerology reading, this would just be one of a dozen or more numbers that would be put together to get a unique report. I have always enjoyed learning about other cultures, as well as anything to do with numbers. Interestingly, this is a very common practice in India, and otherwise very intelligent and educated people frequently confer with the yogis on what to name their children or their business, etc. If you use this technique to explore your character further, please post and tell us a little about your character and what you thought about this exercise.
