Breaking through the Gray

I open my eyes,
and it's like I'm color blind.
I step out side,
and all I see is colures of gray intertwined.

It feels so dull,
like the world is just so bland.
No flavor, no emotion,
everyone’s marching to that same old stance.

I sit among the flowers,
within the monochromatic grass,
And start to envision these different powers,
that this world still has a chance.

I take out my pastels,
as I fall back to watch the clouds.
and I place them against the sky,
trying to break out side the lines.

I let my imagination take over,
just let my hand run free.
And soon it becomes brighter,
the gray is being over ruled so it seems.

Next I touch the grass,
and it becomes a sea of green.
It’s like winter’s end,
and life is being redeemed.

I move to the flowers,
and it’s though a kaleidoscope exploded.
Like fresh spring showers,
made them into paint brushes reloaded.

The trees became stronger,
not so run down and beaten.
Like autumn rebirthed longer,
and the leaves remained sweetened.

The soil regained it’s youth,
and returned to it’s rich saturation.
Like how summer’s nights soothe,
nature’s irritation.

Lastly I find a man,
just as dull as his surroundings are dim.
And I pull him into my plan,
to try and spark the life inside him.

I paint a smile on his face,
and return his eyes to ocean blue.
Carefully reconstructing the base,
finally letting his true self shine through.

He steps out of the lines,
takes my hand and grabs a pencil.
We run off together letting our souls make the designs,
living out lives and creating something special.

However far we go,
the gray starts to vanish.
Our love begins to grow,
and with this new bright world, the past has been banished.
