LeeAnn grew up thinking she was cursed, only discovering in her journey the truth.
The Curse of the Record Keeper

Preface

I don’t like losing time and this is what I’m doing.

I lay very still not because I wanted to, but because I had no choice. In other words I was trapped. Trapped by this body of mine, I could feel the heaviness of my limbs. I could hear my heart beat beneath my chest. A slow thumb, thumb: like a drum under water that was fading in time. I was alive. I was unable to move. Unable to see, but I could hear everything around me. I could feel the air flow over my body, leaving goose bumps on my arms. I could sense the feeling I was alone.

It was early morning by the way the birds chirped in the background. The window must have been left cracked open last night. I could hear the faint song of the Cardinal. I wondered if she was sad or happy this early morning.

I felt very heavy, like weights have been attached to my very existence. Unable to release myself from this entrapment, I tried.  I thought to myself. Move my leg, just a little, wiggle my toes. Silly nonsense, when will my feeling return? When will I began to regain the awareness that I had legs? I knew this could take a while. Of course this wasn’t the first time.
