Hello, this is lesson one. In the poem, Maintaining My Defenses, every line has 12 syllables in it. The one thing I did notice about alliteration in the poem was that it was on every 1st and 3rd syllable of each line. Aging Woman in Repose She gathers and guards her treasures – gathers/guards there is little else to measure a lifetime now in the past tense. She mutters not making much sense.- mutters/makings Yellowed letter from her husband, envelope opened and reopened,* 9 a twist of lovely golden hair from when he was young and fair.* 7 Ragged heart shapes with childish scrawls,* 7 "I love you, Mom," the message calls to old memories of days gone by.* 9 Oh, how quickly the time can fly! Ink penned poems in a journal,* 7 penned/poems paint a picture like a mural, paint/picture of woman's romantic soul,* 7 woman's/romantic composed when her mind was still whole. She gathers and guards her treasures. gather's/guards These tokens provide a measure of a lifetime now in the past tense. She mutters and to God makes sense. mutters'/makes My love for you has no boundaries Intensely seeking you in me You’ve fallen short of your passion Passing passion I have no more Seeking sensuality here Counting the days when we will be Forever entrapped in you Forever facing your touch |
