He Never Saw

She had plans of going away
And seeing distant lands
She had dreams of seeing the world
He had other plans

She had dreams of going to college
And learning to photograph
She had dreams of changing lives
And making people smile and laugh

He wanted her to settle down
And stay by his side
Their love for each other was honest and pure
They had nothing to hide

And so they said those binding words
And started life anew
Soon came another miracle
Not just one but two

So they loved their family
And their life together
And they promised to each other
To be there forever

But everyday she would sigh
And look out her window
At all the sacrifices that she made
And he would never know

All for love she tells herself
And then puts on a smile
She loves her family with all her heart
Still she wonders all the while

Would she have changed some stranger’s lives?
Would she have made them laugh?
Would she have maybe changed the world?
Would she have had the power to do all that by half?

She looks into her husband’s eyes
And sees her sacrifices
And thanks God once again
That she has paid the prices
