You Taught Me

You taught me to let go when I wanted to cry.
You taught me that dreams are real, even when I wanted to fly.
You taught me to say sorry because I'm not always right.
You taught me to forgive but never back down from a fight.
You taught me to stay strong when things get really hard.
You taught me that the world is beautiful, when we laid out in the yard.
You taught me to fly a kite and shoot a basketball.
You taught me to get up every time I would fall.
You taught me the meaning of life and how to live in it.
You taught me to make a difference and not have a little fit.
You taught me to respect myself and all the people around.
You taught me that I needed to grow as I became college bound.
You taught me to be smart and not a stupid blonde.
You taught me to stay close so we could have a special bond.
You taught me so many amazing things that I would have never known,
But because you're in my life I know I'll never stand alone!
