Short Story.

Plunge.

The rain contaminated the clouds tonight, casually frenzying beautiful destruction upon the buildings sitting below. My thoughts coursed round my body, the anticipation, the realisation. The Russian nuclear facility mazed and twisted it way through the land. Complex architecture and perplexing security made this mission a whole lot harder. The time had arrived, my watch blurred with the poison of tonight, 9:30pm, the time that would change everything, war would be ended, peace would reign, and peace would destroy and create a deafening scourge. A single droplet of tonight's venom trickled down my face, a scarred face, a face scarred by the murderers of today, the politicians calling the 'shots' and by shots they mean bullet shots, they seek the desperate among us and corrupt beyond the imagination. This 'deal' they had sickens me every second of breathing , they have a 100% effective persuasion technique for me, nano-bytes, microscopic machines infesting my daughters body, aged 5 and the government willing to kill, if I did not accept there terms. Sickening. My descent down the stairs was quick, the adrenaline fuelling the determination , I pressed my back towards the wall, scouting the area around me, the poison still unforgiving.
To the left of me one member of security, closely scouting his surroundings like a money corrupted eagle. I pondered whether to slip past him and make my way to the primary objective, or to take him out quick and simple, I decided to take him out, it would prevent problems later, my legs began moving before the thought had even been confirmed. The training, the relentless training affected my every movement making them almost elegant, revised and effective, a dancing wolverine. My blade cried for my hand, I slowly removed it from its sheath, the metal grumbling, grunting for sin, my hand swooned over the victims head, the blade staring its victim in the eye, no give, no remorse. The knife plunged into the neck of the corrupt eagle, creating a flow of red coloured regret, seeping from its carrier, escaping the cause of its demise. Every time a kill was confirmed my conscience nauseated itself, disappointed with every action, I had learnt to block out this feeling, it became a hindrance, it started to affect my work and when that happens there's a danger it could affect my daughter. I started to grab this limp, wasted body when a light started to move towards my position, the one thing I had learnt to despise the light, destroyer of hope, saviour of nothing and the beacon of truth.
A sense of dread dawned on me, time was definitely against me action had to be taken but liquid panic surged through my veins, my only choice was to remain hidden, I shrunk back to the wall using it as cover. Then there it was the pinnacle of panic. The body found, that one corrupted eagle just spawned the whole fucking flock. This was the Plunge.
