Just a little something I worked on over break from school. Just wanted some criticism.
Tears streamed down her face.

"We had a good run."

Those last, bone chilling words destroyed every fiber of her being. Even now, three months past that faithful day, she could hear his voice, see those dark green eyes that absorbed you in with just one look. He had left such an imprint upon her that forgetting what they had, what they could've had, wasn't going to happen.

"Stupid prophecies" she said, "You take away my life, my home, my family and give me hope by giving me someone that loves me, and then you take it away. I HATE YOU!"

She needed some sort of entity to blame and of course, it wasn't their fault. They didn't have a say in what happened. They only knew that eventually she would be broken down but revealing that portion of information would only dismantle those careful wires that held her destiny in place. This sorrow was again, just another necessary step. Her emotions were just so easily broken down that taking the final steps would only annihilate the progress she made.

Her name was Cherie. She never understood why her mother gave her that name. She looked up its meaning and the only thing that came up was "Darling." As if that made a bit a sense. Her mix of Asian heritage and Caucasian looks gave her a sort of elegance. The dead-beat dad she never knew abandoned her mom and she was forced to work until she eventually ventured to the States but only after years of hardship.

Cherie liked to think that her mom instilled a strength that resided somewhere deep inside her soul. Obviously it wasn't showing now because all she could do was sob, thinking about the destruction she's witnessed for the past 9 months.

After about 15 minutes, she stopped, got up, and started along the trail once again. Crying about this stuff wasn't going to solve a thing and despite this being hard, she couldn't let the people who sacrificed themselves for her down. Cherie knew that continuing would be the only way to finally end the continuing destruction of her inner being.

As she walked along the trail, the fire behind her cascaded down until everything in its path sank into nothing. Destruction had again laid waste to the area Cherie was in because she knew exactly what she was doing. Despite her weak demeanor, her combat skills were nothing short of excellent. All because of him.

Cherie's thoughts couldn't help but journey across the last 9 months of her life. They were searching for some clue that could possibly aid her in finding her next destination and suddenly she realized something. Those man's last words, as despairing as can be, were a hint. Possibly, he was still alive and he was just attempting to hold back whatever was after them. Her mind could do nothing but dwell upon this thought.

The last building crumbled down and all she could do was think, just think and walk.

"Maybe our run has just started."
