When we see and hear the answers to prayer.

On my knees, it’s been awhile.
Why do I procrastinate?
Why do I hesitate?
I know you listen and I know you answer, Lord, you’ve shown me time after time.

Remember the time I was struggling when my children had been violated by their uncle?
I was angry as I was driving on my way over to confront him. I was thinking horrible even violent thoughts. The angrier I got the faster I drove. My heart was broke. I couldn’t think. “Lord, please give me wisdom!” I prayed out loud. It was a long country road; I stared out in the distance. My foot eased off the gas peddle as I was captivated by a mama bird with her baby on her back. She would take a dive and let go of the baby. The little one would flap its wings then mama would swoop up under her baby to give it rest. As I watched this happen time and again, straight ahead right in my view, I heard you speak.
“See how that mama bird is letting go of her baby?” you asked.
“Yes Lord.” I answered.
“I am going to let go of you now just like the mama bird.” I listened intently
“I want you to flap those little Christian wings and remember all that I have taught you.”
“You know what is right and what would please me.” you said.
I immediately felt humble and ready to deal with the situation just as you had instructed. Tears began to roll down my cheeks. I knew that you cared; you heard my desperate plea for wisdom and responded.

When I reminisce through time and examples of answered prayer I know you are always listening and waiting. I can’t believe how you get my attention and the answers are always right on time. It’s always easy to pray when there’s a crisis or trouble but why do we wait when things are good? As I bow humbly before you in praise, I ask for your forgiveness in the times that I am distant. I ask that you would help me to draw close in the good times. Thank you for using the birds to teach me and show your presence. As I reflect on your words, “To those who are open to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge.” Matthew 13:12 NLT I know that I have been touched with the abundance of your love and some day I will be strong enough to soar beside you and not have to be carried on your back.
Thank You, Lord.
Your daughter…
