It's the 1st chapter, and I wanna know what you think!
[Introduction]
Purple Stars
Dana
Let me tell you how it happened. It was so surreal, it’s happened so quickly it’s almost amazing. But it’s not amazing, far from it.
After school, on an icy December day, and me, being the stupid girl, I decided not to go home before it got dark, but to hang out at the nearest park with a few friends.
It was so dark, really dark, and there was a frozen pond nearby. Now let me tell you something, dare games in a dark park with a frozen pond nearby don’t go together, trust me. “19, 20” Janette says to me with a look of mischievousness in her eyes. ”21” I let out a melodramatic sigh.
They huddle round together whispering and giggling, leaving me to wonder what my dare will be. “Step into the pond!” Theo looks at me with a little sympathy, while I smile calmly and get up; inside I feel all weird and dizzy.
Looking back at it, every step I took was like a countdown till the worst happens. 10, 9, 8, 7, I turn around and pull a silly face at my friends.
6, 5, 4, I do a silly dance.
3, 2, 1 I step into the pond.
A fraction of a second after the crack, there’s the splash.
I hear the voices of friends nearby.
“Oh My God!”
“Shit, Dana’s drowning!”
“Somebody call an ambulance!”
The icy water’s pulling me in, and whilst I struggle to swim upwards to find something, anything I could use to keep myself alive, all I can see is pitch black, and all I can feel are pieces of ice, moving away whenever I try to grab them.
It’s not going to stop me though. I still try my best to swim, even though it’s not working. I throw back my head to move away the hair that’s in front of my face, and it gets worse.
It’s like when you nod too fast, and there’s that horrible feeling at the back of your head, as if your brain just hit it from the inside. I think it’s called a head rush.
I’m weakened, and I start to see purple stars, and those stars get brighter and bigger as I sink further and further into the pond. That’s all I can remember.
I hope you like it! :)
