Sunlight fades being the clouds
white and drifting – to where?

Footsteps leaving prints
forever scarring a sorry heart.

Anger, red as blood,
dripping scarlet onto the black shadows
smearing weakness across the pages.

Giving in and breaking down,
writing sorrows to be found.

Lyrics explaining thoughts,
better left unexplained.

Cracked windows the soul,
a failing barrier of protection.

Words, magical or worthless,
depending on a person.

Breathing air as they’re spoken.
sucking sadness from the writer,
spreading it across the land.

Tears drip like rain,
tapping against the roof,
soothing and harmonic.

Whispering tales long forgotten,
searching for a love strong enough to listen.
