A picture of Change

My picture is transformed  as
a single salty tear etches its way
down the bright watercolor
that represents my life.

A still life, of reed, rock, and sun
becomes a Pollock-like abstraction
vertical lines of blended color
splattered against what I once believed

I am forever altered
fundamentally changed
never again to be
my former self

Oh the intense pain
that is the process
by which we obtain
the simplest bit of wisdom
