It came to me at work. Daydreaming about my ideal woman.
She would be smart.
Witty.
She'd know just what to say in every situation.
I would feel a little light headed,
Whenever She'd be near,
Whenever She'd smile,
Whenever Her eyes met mine.
She'd be my lady,
My girl,
My woman.
But She'd never really be mine,
Because She'd be Her own woman.
Her own person.
She wouldn't need me,
Unless She needed me.
I'd be Her bunker in a storm,
Her shield in battle,
Her knight in shining armor.
But I wouldn't mind,
Because She'd be my nurse,
When I've been beaten down.
And lost all hope.
She would push when I'd pull.
Away.
And She'd meet me head on,
When I'd push too far.
She'd always know what I mean,
When I'm confusing myself.
Because She'd know me better than my mama.
Whom She'd know just how handle,
By the way.
Because I would waste no time
Introducing Her to my family.
Even if I'm reluctant.
Because She'd never take no for an answer.
She'd know all my friends,
And they'd love Her.
Because She's "Cool people."
She'd make me wonder if I'm crazy.
Because She'd have me picking out 'The Ring'
Before We'd even move in together.
But She'd never feel smothered.
Because I'd give Her space.
She'd do the same.
Because We'd understand.
Sometimes it's good to be apart.
She'd know that We are still two different people.
Heading down two different roads.
That just so happened to merge.
We wouldn't always see eye to eye,
But that would be okay,
Because We'd respect each other's opinions.
We might not have the same morals.
But We' have similar values.
She wouldn't force Her life choices on me,
But She'd make sure I'd know why She chose them,
Because She would hope that I'd join Her,
In doing something She loves.
She'd make sure I know,
That I am free to live my own life.
And never want to keep me from something,
That's good for me.
Even if I'd have to go far away.
She'd just start packing,
Saying, "When are We leaving?"
She'd be perfection,
Even with Her flaws,
Because She'd be my lady,
And I'd love Her,
No matter what.
