No Ordinary Man


There once was a man, no ordinary man,

Black clouds didn’t dare, float over his head,

Four-leaf clovers… he needed none,

The candles stayed lit, but his wishes came true,

He had his cake, and ate it too,

Black cats were jinxed, if they crossed his path,

He swam after eating, but never had cramps,

He stepped on a crack, and it cured Mom’s back,

He asked not for directions, to reach destinations,

He left the seat up, but no one complained,

He juggled knives, on Friday the thirteenth,

He didn’t believe, but Santa sent gifts,

He pouted all day, and things got better,

He crossed his eyes, but they never stayed,

He went in and out of the house, and no one cared,

He ate pie at bedtime, and didn't have nightmares,

He forgot to wash his ears, but nothing grew there,

He wore yesterday’s underwear, and never had an accident,

He was saved from a falling piano, by walking under a ladder,

He went against the grain, but never got a splinter,

He had seven years of good luck, after he broke a mirror,

He climbed trees, but didn’t fall and break his neck.

He moved with his old broom, and it served him well,

He saved the last damsel, and rode off into the sunrise.
