Something I wrote for an online writing class
Before I was able to do anything to stop it from happening,

the door slammed shut and the lock clicked with a deafening sound.

No key will open this lock, so it is closed forever.

Unable to keep my composure,

I fall to the floor,

weeping silently for the things on the other side

that will surely die without being nurtured.

Everything in this room will eventually fade into nothingness,

never to be seen, touched or tasted again.

My senses, deprived of these things, will also suffer.

I will no longer feel the flame,

no longer see the spark,

no longer taste the thrill.

I am destined to hunger for passion for the rest of my days.
