A boy's clever way to keep his best friend with him.
Brendan sat cross-legged on the floor of his padded cell, whistling to himself and bobbing his head from side to side. Suddenly, tears ran down his eyes, and he began to hit the padded floor with his hands.

“Brendan, what’s wrong?” asked, Bumblebee.

“Oh, nothing. It’s just…they are going to take me away from you when I leave this place.”

“That’s nonsense, said, Bumblebee, as he put his arms on Brendan’s shoulders, trying to assure him they would never be apart from one another.

“All the time we have spent with each other can never be erased or forgotten, as long as we hold on to those memories. No matter where we go, or how far away we are from one another, we will always be with each other.”

“You mean it? asked, Brendan, standing up and wiping the tears from his eyes.

“Absolutely!” “Now, do you have that rubber vase, they let you keep in here?” asked, Bumblebee.

The vase had been a gift from his mom that he refused to part with, ever since he was brought into this room.

“You bet I do,” replied, Brendan.

“Good,” said, Bumblebee. “Now, put me in there and when you walk out of here, I will always be with you.”

“That’s a great idea, Bumblebee,” said, Brendan.

Brendan picked up Bumblebee and placed him inside just as he mother came into the room.

“Hi, Brendan!” his mom said. “Who were you talking to in here, honey?”

“Oh, nobody, mom,” replied, Brendan. “You know I’m the only one in here, silly.”

Brendan’s mom let out a chuckle.

“Well then, did you find anything interesting to put into that vase?”

“Just my lucky penny, is all. It’s never going to leave me ever again,” said, Brendan, as a smile appeared on his face.
