My story entry for today's prompt in 'The Writer's Cramp' contest.
"Roof! Roof, roof!" I turn to my digital alarm clock, it's 1:14 a.m. . "Roof, roof, roof roof!" , Rosko the neighbor's dog continously screeches at the world. Honestly though, what does he have to say that is so important to say for three hours straight, thus far? I can gurantee you unless there is a nuclear attack on earth there is nothing that requires that much repeating. "Roooo! Ar, ar arooo!" he screams once more. 'Forget this' , I think as I walk to the kitchen and grab the blessed bottle of Ambien, 'I'm off to la-la land and Rosko can't do a damned thing about it!' I think as I pop a tablet and go back to bed.

"Roof, roof, roof!" , yes that's the first thing I hear when I wake up. "Time for drastic action..." I mutter as I walk to the kitchen once more, sleep is still on the agenda, but not for me. I pull last evening's leftovers I made and pulled out two tablets, crushed them and poured them into the tuperware. 'Oh yeah, Rosko's going to have a nice sleep indeed.' I think as I walk outside in my shirt and boxers, luckily Jim and Martha aren't out, then again I don't see why they aren't especially since their dog has been a menace for probably the last twelve hours. "Here boy!" I whisper happily to Rosko as I approach the fence. "Roof, roof roof roof!" he barks at me, probably confused that i'm not angry beyond belief at him. I toss the tuperware over the fence and walk back inside. 'Yeah, I think I'll sleep in today...'
