To the tune of an old bluegrass or country song. Re: Lessons about marriage to our sons.
Morning Sun (6-24-11)

When I …….took your hand,

I promised ……I would land

on my feet, no matter what

this life threw at me

but I….I was so…..

naïve, so naïve.

I ……didn’t know

what the future ….was gonna hold.

I lost sight….of the hope

that we’d last through the night,

I lost hope,….. you would stay

by my side.  But then you told me,

“If tonight…..is the dark night

of your soul, …..let me bring the light

that comes …..with the dawn

I will bring, …..no, I'll become

your morning sun.

'Cause I know…..you don’t know

what the future’s ….gonna hold,

but I’m here …..and I know

you’ll survive,…. we’ll survive.

And when….. the time comes

when our bodies turn to dust,

we will fly, …..you and I,

anywhere we dream up,

‘cross the ocean, …..over mountains

toward the sun, toward the sun.

But till then, …..will you join me

as we write our life’s story;

a little laugher, tears and drama,

we’ll make an old fashioned saga;

You and me, hand in hand,

with our sons, our two sons."

And we'll tell them,

when they’re older

“there’s no telling

what your future will hold,

so just find ....somebody .....you can love.

And son, don’t be afraid…..

don't ever hesitate ......to become, to become

her morning sun.

Some nights ......will be dark nights

of the soul,....... when you'll lose sight,

when you'll fear ....that your love..... won't survive.

Take it .......from your folks,

if she is the right choice,

with the dawn, she'll become

your morning sun.  And she will say,

Come dawn, birds will sing.

With the dawn, I will bring,

do not fear, I'll be here.

Your morning sun.
