Tribute to my sister for the school reunion she arranged |
The Reunion 2003 As I approached the ancient ruin, I began to wonder what I was doing, A hearty welcome at the door, Erased those fears a little more. Greeted by Helen, Marsha and Paul, I wandered down into the hall Oh! What a sight! A dismal view, Faces of people I once knew Wrinkles smooth out- we’re young again Memories revived so out comes the pen Friendships renewed where they left off The unrecognised giving a polite little cough. Lost love’s blushing – looking embarrassed, Some stared glazed, some harassed Memories rekindled from the dusty dim Gazing at photo’s “Don’t know him?” Fleeting visions fine and thin, Emerging through the wrinkled skin. Some faces forgotten beyond recognition, Others were slim and in great condition. “How do you manage to stay like that? You won’t remember me – I’m far too fat!” For others the bar was till half eleven They thought they’d died and gone to heaven! Music played – another re-release, But others just wanted a bit of peace. “Cant do that now – just want to talk” Others danced a jiggly walk! So – its all over – all said and done, It really was a lot of fun – So we say thank you Helen, Marsha and Paul Without you it wouldn’t have happened at all! Chrissie Nash 2003 |
