Assignment: Clip a picture out of a magazine and write a story.
Journal March 3, 2011: Use an image out of a magazine and write about it.

It was a warm, summer day in the middle of June. School had just ended for summer break, and all the children were overjoyed. It was a lazy day, and the air was filled with the sense of relaxation. Occasionally, there was a warm breeze that cut through the humid air.

“Ya know, today would be a great day to go to my lake house, “ Katy randomly said while swinging in the hammock. I turned my head just enough to meet her eyes, and lifted my sunglasses unto my curly head of hair.

“That sounds amazing. What are we waiting for?! Let’s go, weenie!” We hopped out of the hammocks and made our way to the jeep.

When we got to the lake house, Katy ran inside. I drifted down the hill where the pier protruded into the water. I looked back to the house to see where Katy was.

“I’m gonna’ grab some towels. Go ahead and pull out some chairs. I’ll be right back!” Katy called out from the sunny top of the hill.

“Okay. Hey! Wait, Katy! Ya think we could invite Alyssa?”She opened the squeaky screen door and nodded.

         “Call her! We’ll have fun.”

Alyssa pulled up in her silver viper, and honked the horn to make her appearance know.

“Heeeeello ladies! Guess who’s here?” Katy and I were already sprawled out in the lounge chairs. We fanned ourselves with the magazines that we were reading and laughed.

“Hmmm, not sure… Alyssa!” I screamed out. “C’mon!” Alyssa slowly made her way down to the pier, swaying her bangs in front of her face.

“Girl, I am thirsty! You got anything to fix this problem?” Katy laughed at the way Alyssa’s tone of voice.

“Oaky, boo. I’ll be right back.” Katy stood up, brushing the dirt off her stomach. About fifteen minutes later, she came back with a tray of cold, iced-berry lemonade. The glasses’ condensation dripped down and soaked unto the yellow napkins, and the ice clanged against the thin glass. Katy passed out the glasses, each filled with luscious berries and a slice of lemon.

“Yeah, I know. I’m the best,” she winked and laughed.
