A poem on how to write a poem. (revised)
Poems are graceful
Poems are hateful
Take me to the Pacific coast
Or that place you hate the most
Poetry takes time
And requires much rhyme
Establish your rhyme scheme
Develop a central theme
Imagery is the key
Do you not see?

You need a pencil to write
And maybe even some light
Personification silently screams
To be given life
For even the pencil
Knows of its strife
Delicately the light will illuminate
The recesses of your mind
If you feel so inclined

Do not deprive a poem
Like a crying baby
In need of attention
Graciously feed it
Similes and metaphors
And observe the relieved tension

Ideas in the brain
Are conceived in vain
Unless nursed well
Under graphite’s familiar smell
Write! Rewrite! Rejoice!
Your poem now blossoms with ecstasy
