The lake is in eternal wait for her beloved, the weary traveler. |
THE LAKE I am the lake silent and deep O traveler I wait for you To quench your thirst, to cool your brow With greetings of good wishes true At sunrise I am golden yellow At midday my waters burn Scarlet gown at sunset I adorn Slowly nightwards as I turn The moon looks down upon my bosom The stars like thousand eyes My rippling waters ebb and tide Waiting for the sun to rise As mother earth hugs to her breast Lives so royal and tall I gather the petals and leaves with love As gently with breeze they fall. As seasons change the fate for the world My head gets crowned with snow The spring and summer bring green life again And autumn, the golden glow O traveler, won't u come to me? To behold my bubbling smiles I’ll put your tired feet to rest For you have walked for many miles I weave the gold of sun in my hair I glance up through my veil In eternal wait, O weary traveler For your tiny boat on sail You come O traveller, with a pensive mind I soothe your ruffled hair I spray your face with all my soul And cherish you with tender care The time has come to bid farewell O traveller we now have to part You whistle a note on your way homewards And I hold it close to my heart I am the lake, so soft and cool I stay in hope for some Tired and weary and a thirsty traveller And many more travelers to come.
