A Sky Full of People by Keaton Foster Flash Fiction less than 500 words shorts Above me for as far as I can see, and for as far as I can force myself to believe is blue. No clouds hang high or sink low. A golden sun burns bright, regardless of day or night. Perilous birds of flight soar just beyond my reach. They remind me of all that I have left to achieve. In this new place, all truth resides and all hope is implied. It will always remain this way. I won't allow it to change. I will not go back to all that was. I am different. The hardest parts of the journey were made by me. I know the way. I know what it takes. I won't forget. A sky full of people who love me for reasons that I now understand fill my world. They tell me what I need to hear, when I need it most of all. They hold nothing back and for that, I am thankful. Without them, I would be below the ground looking up. Instead, I am here, high above looking down. I came into this world tucked into a ball of confusion and disarray. Now I stand tall with great clarity. I know all that is abound. I see it for what it really is, nothing more, and nothing less. To live through all that I did, I have been blessed in ways that I could never even begin to express. I will be forever obligated to try to live the best that I can. Those that love me deserve nothing less than everything that I can give them, and everything that is owed to them. They saved me and in turn gave me back all that I was sure I lost. It took me many years to realize such things, but now that I know I can assure you that I will never forget. A sky full of people who love me exist beyond a world that I was sure I would not come to miss. I am glad I found my way here. I am glad I found them. They saved me from all that I was to become and in turn helped me become something more. All that I now see is blue and those who love me as they do. A sky full of people is all that I know. It surrounds me, as well as defines me. Forever I can now see, I fear nothing of what is to be. I have them and they have me.
