Making peace with past memories. (Form: Diatelle)
Tristful Transit

Lost
in thought,
my mind's caught
in time's silk net.
Binding me, stretching taut,
reminding me, lest I forget,
that each choice I have made incurs a debt.
Past images assail, dark memories accost,
my vision pales as emotions beset;
I find myself filled with regret
having lost what I sought.
Still, I see yet
what was taught
and not
cost.

Notes
An entry for Round 36 of "Invalid Item
Prompt: Image
Form: Diatelle
The diatelle is a syllabic poem. The syllable structure of the diatelle is: 1/2/3/4/6/8/10/12/10/8/6/4/3/2/1, but unlike an Etheree, has a set rhyme pattern of abbcbccaccbcbba. This poetry form may be written on any subject matter and looks best center aligned in a diamond shape.

tristful ~ full of sadness; sorrowful.
lest ~ for fear that; so that (one) should not

Thank you for taking time to read my words. I would appreciate it if you took a moment and left a comment. Your reaction, impressions, criticisms, - yes, even praise - are all equally welcome.
