Paranormal and Supernatural Romances

Hello Everyone! Megan and Angel here. It is almost Valentines Day. Romance is in the air. Hearts are all aglow. Angel and I have decided to write about paranormal and supernatural romances. We have covered romance over the years but not the paranormal kind. We decided to go for it. Everyone is into Twilight, vampires and supernatural so we thought why not. Stay tuned after the newsletter. Angel has some chocolate truffel recipes to share. Let's get started. We can't wait to sink our fangs into this item and the recipes.

A paranormal romance stands out using the classic element of the romance story board with a twist of speculative fiction in the form of the scientifically unexplainable.

The themes can range from fantasy, science fiction and horroe with the focus being in a gothic past, paranormal romance characters stand out when they are ghost, witches, demons and what ever fantasy creature you choose. Always remember to blend the real world with the supernatural characters and elements.

Be original, create strong characters that everyone roots for and write realistic conflicts. Create an original concept. Have your vampires or supernatural characters take on the world.

The rules of vampires and werwolves have changed. Vampires can be exposed to sunlight and don't sleep all day. Werewolves don't have to wait for a full moon to change. You can write about vampires and werewolves in your story and change the rules but remember they are vampires and werewolves and aren't human so the rules can't change too much. Others will read the story and forgot that they are vamipres and werewolves and the story will be boring. So keep the vampires and werewolves supernatural.

Vampires and werewolves and other supernatural characters:

Where do they come from?

What powers and weaknesses do they have?

How many of them exist in the world?

How do they hide from humans and mortals?

What laws do they have?

How do they survive?

Do they have enemies?

The hero can be a brooding vampire with intense eyes and be handsome. Would we have it any other way? He will have charm, maybe money and even though he is dark, the female will see that he is good, loving and has a kind heart. If the hero is mean and violent, well when he falls in love he will want to change to be with the woman he loves. You don't want a whiny, whimpy vampire or supernatural man but you do want a strong, somewhat violent character capable of love and redemption. Readers need to love the main male supernatural character. Anyone can change.

Writing a paranormal and supernatural romance. Read other vampire romances and paranormal romance stories. This will give you an idea of what has been done and what hasn't. You can create your own style.

Develop your own characters. A human heroine and a vampire or werewolf male. If you prefer, a woman vampire or make her a werewolf in love with a human man. The human woman can be a student, secretary, owwner of a dress shop, nurse or what ever you want her to be. If the man is human, he can be rich or an average Joe. It is more fun to have the woman be human and the man being the vampire or werewolf. Women loved being pursued by vampires or a werewolf. The female should be beautiful and not a weakling. When she finds out her lover is a vampire or supernatural character, she will be shocked but also intrigued and ready for the challenge. His enemies become her enemies and she will have to adjust to a different life if she wants to stay with her supernatural lover. She will learn not to be afraid and be a stronger person and ready to take on the world. Even though a human is human, a female human can act like a supernatural character and in most vampire stories, the female charcter will be turned into a vampire to be with the one she loves. Yes! That is love.

Confict. Vampire romances usually involve conflict between the villain and a rival for the woman's love, other vampires or vampire hunters. The heroine will wander if she can trust the vampire. The conflict will be resolved in the end and true love will win. Isn't that the purpose of a romance story? Vampires will fight other vampires, werewolves, other humans and maybe encounter witches or other creatures. Your lead characters should in the end. and live happily ever after. The course of true love never runs easy.

We hope this helps with your ideas of writing a supernatural romances. Watching Twilight movies and Vampire Diaries over and over will help give you ideas for your own supernatural stories. In Bella's case, she was lucky to have a vampire, Edward and a werewolf, Jacob in love with her. Personally, I would take Jacob but Edward is great, too and a cool vampire. Here is hoping you will write your own supernatural-paranormal romance.

Now, here are Angel's recipes.

TruffleTarts With Raspberries

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups fine chocolate wafer crumbs {from Oreo cookies ot chocolate wafers}
6 tablespoons melted butter
1 recipe Dark Chocolate Truffles, recipe follows, whipped but not shaped into balls

Line the cups with strips of parchment or waxed paper, cut so that they are as wide as the diameter of each cup and long enough to overhang the sides{you'll need to cut this overhang to remove tarts}. Use the bottom of a small glass to press the crumbs over the bottomand sides of muffin cups, building the sides up to only about 1 1/2 inches. Place a raspberry in the center of of each crust and with a pastry bag or small plastic bag with the corner snipped off, fill the tarts with the truffle mixture. Smooth the tops and refrigerate until ser about 2 hours.

Set aside to cool for 1 hour at room temperature then beat the chocolate at medium speed until it gets thick and light colored. Spread over the bottom of a baking dish and smooth the top. Refrigerate about 2 hours until firm.
Pour the cocoa powder onto a deep plate or shallow bowl. Use a melon baller or small ice cream scoop to scoop out the balls of chocolate. Place them on the plate with the cocoa powder and roll betwen 2 forks to completely coat with the cocoa powder then use the forks to carefully transfwr them to a parchment or waxed lined baking sheet.
