Darkness my Friend

The darkness.......
So inviting
attractive you are, luring me in with that candid smile.

The light.........
Keeps me safe from your harm and temptation
love here is unconditional.

In the dark, love is circumstantial,
purity is sometimes replaced with cruelty.

In the light I'm reminded to stay on the righteous path.
To be good, brings comfort to my soul.

Darkness.......
There you are again, talking with you is so much more fun.
Your morbidity stirs my curiosity.

Light.......always beautiful, safe, secure......

Darkness beckons me again,
I can't resist, I find beauty even in the most ugly.

Light holds me back,
protecting me from the imminent danger.

The path is narrow, I struggle to stay steady.
Light holding onto my right hand,
while darkness grabs hold of my left.

Darkness fills the tunnel,
yet the beacon of light shines bright towards the end of this journey.....
