A conversion story of a young man |
Most people find John annoying He seems to be just a boy in a grown-up world They mock him, they laugh at him Cause he's always saying things that they've never heard Things like love and commitment Being hand in hand Things that none of the people Can seem to understand And they think that its odd that he Writes in his diary Everyday If they'd look closely Only then would they see The things he has to say He says "Father, forgive them, They don't know what they do to me And though I can't feel you I know that you're holding me Show me a sign that this isn't in vain And while I'm waiting, Father, please forgive them" Today was the worst of all days All of John's so-called friends up and ran away Leaving him with nothing to say Like a stab in the back, a slap in the face So much for love and commitment He thought that he had What about loyalty Did they not understand So he writes in his diary Then picks up the book he reads Everyday And the man in the story Is sentenced to death. As he Looks there's not one friendly face But he says "Father, forgive them, They don't know what they do to me And though I can't feel you I know that you're holding me Show me a sign that this isn't in vain And while I'm waiting, Father, please forgive them" And the tears, they came down And John's knees hit the ground For the first time, it seemed, he cried out loud He said "Father, forgive me, I know now what you did for me I finally feel you I know that you're holding me I realize that this isn't in vain Thank you for waiting, Father, please forgive me" The next day went by in a hurry All John could think of was the truth he had learned In his heart, and the laughter remained But now things were different, all he could say Was that he wished they'd feel the love he had That real love could be found And as the people walked away John knelt back on the ground And he prayed "Father, forgive them, They don't know what they do to you I hope one day hearing me Will open them to hearing you Let your light shine in me, so they see your face And while we're waiting, Father, please forgive them" |
