This was the last bit of sky she would see. She twisted the branch and pushed inwards. The trunk sprang open revealing gnarled wooden spiral steps leading down in to darkness. Her breath hung heavy in the crisp spring air. The trees looked so beautiful, yet now one held her demise.
One foot followed the other reluctantly. The stench of distant mould smothered her head as the door clamped shut behind her. Darkness. Her breath escaped too quickly, she couldn't catch it, there was no air. Her nails scrapped frantically at the sides of the walls. "I must keep calm." As she turned the corner a dim light showed her direction.
She stumbled in to the small light space."What is the word?"he said. "Hajanta" she replied. "Drink this." She sipped the bitter jagged black liquid.
