A poem written to my ex inspired by the GA flood of '09
A roller coaster ride represents the perfect analogy of our relationship. There have been ups, downs, twists, and turns, and just when the ride is coasting free there's a plunge that puts my stomach in knots and for a moment I can barley breathe, only to be shot soaring up once again, heart racing. As with all things, the ride must come to an end, leaving my adrenaline rushing and just like that, as terrifying as the ride was, I'm ready to get back on and give it another go hoping this time to conquer the fear with my hands raised and eyes open, but the thrill persists so I remain guarded. Now a storm has come through and flooded the park and all that's visible is a small trace of what once existed. Although the water has cleared, getting back on that ride is a scary prospect; the damage has been done so all you are left with are memories.
