Human Nature

  The small lake looked pristine, like no one had ever been there before me. The soft mud beside the water bore the tracks of deer, raccoons, and squirrels. A fish leaped high into the air to catch an insect. The sun glinted off of something metal. In the weeds were beer cans and food wrappers.
