THE CALL

         THE CALL          

David graduated from the university 7 years ago as a law student with a 1st class result. After his university education he believed that getting a job won’t be a problem because he was brilliant, intelligent and smart. He applied for jobs at different law chambers, companies and organizations but none employed him even though his interviews were excellent.

         He resides formally in the city but compulsorily relocated to the village where his siblings lived. He became frustrated and depressed as his situation worsened by poverty.  He then concluded to take his life because he could not bear the circumstances that surrounded him, there was no hope of a better life, most of his friends were out of reach and the few he could contact did little or nothing to help him.

          David thought to himself “before I commit suicide, I will walk around the village to catch a last glimpse of it and bid the last goodbye to whomever that cares to greet me, then I will walk down to the farm to hang myself.”

As he walked close to the prepared place for his suicide, he heard a sound but did not pay attention to it, as he walked closer he heard the sound again, this time it was longer and louder. It turned out to be his phone ringing which he taught he had left in the house. He was reluctant to pick the call after all ‘it could be the palm wine taper’ but the phone rang continuously till he got to the prepared spot for suicide. He finally picked the call; he heard a female voice and the following conversation took place:



GIRL          : (anxious) hello! hello!



DAVID          : (unwilling to reply) he-ll-o



GIRL          : hello am I speaking with David?



DAVID          : (still not willing to speak) yes em No! he is……



While talking the network went off and the call came in again



GIRL          : is it David on the line?



DAVID          : yes it is David and whom am I speaking with please?



GIRL          : (very excited and happy) eh! I thought I won’t be able to get in touch with you                  again …I tried…



DAVID          : (a bit confused) excuse me! I still don’t know whom I am speaking with.



GIRL          : common David , it is I Erin Motunrayo!



DAVID          : (surprised ,excited and laughing) Erin Erin oh haahahahaha…Erin



         Erin Moturayo was one of the ladies he admired so much while in the university, he wished to have dated her but he was unlucky. After he received the call his life changed for the better. Erin called to inform him of a reserved job for him. While in the university he was known to be a good organizer of events and it earned him a good reputation & popularity. He was asked to partner with a multi-billion company to organize a diner party that would host dignitaries from all walks of life for the government of his country.



         Erin means Laugh          

         Moturayo means joy is mine again.



Lessons:          are u going through any devastating situation? Be patient, endure and persevere, God will give you a call soon then you’ll laugh and say “I am joyful again”. Suicide is never an option, while there is life there is hope. God is able, hold on to him. Shalom!
