poem written about the decimation of the elves
The nightfall of the elves has come
Alone they flee from their home
No great king to lead them from their strife
So many wounds, such loss of life
The great ones from history fade
No man will revel at what they made
Half-elves, their own are not even spared
The young stolen from where they reared
Like torches burning, cities light
Such few elves succeeding in their flight
The few, cowards, hide in the trees
Weeping with grief, falling to their knees
This alone is just one tribe
Many will soon taste the vibe
Of terror, strife, destruction great
None dare guessing this cruel fate
One by one destruction will be dealt
Their cities torch, their histories melt
The sages, in their tombs weep
The netherworld pierced with this grief
Human men lead this charge
Great men, strong and large
“Seize the warriors, the princess too”
“Leave none free, they’ll make a zoo”
Elves, screaming, are taken up
The elders parted from their cup
Of ages as they are singled out
As ones of great wisdom and great tout
The destruction reigned that night was grim
Their capital left without a whim
Of rescue as the elves fled forth
As the armies of the north
Descend to join their eastern brothers
More elf children separated from their mothers
As fathers die, their lives protecting those
that once were free of all woes
the fire spread, more lives consumed
as pottery went up in scented plumes
of smoke, obscuring the moon above
the elves main god, whom they loved
as smoke cleared, and fires died down
the air devoid of any kind sound
the apocalypse has come, the end is passed
of the elves which once were massed
are scattered few, none fit to fight back
all too stunned by this attack
save one, an elven youth
who found these humans quite uncouth
and on that tree, on which he stood
an oath he swore from beneath his hood
“my brothers’ blood shall be avenged
The humans shall soon taste revenge”
