Presidential precedent...Winning entry 110510!
Write a poem or story about exposing a politician.

It all began with some phone calls
To bring down the president.
Linda Tripp talked to Monica
‘bout main White House resident.

Lewinsky, the intern, stayed
Long past her hours of working,
To meet in the Oval Office
For some extraordin’ry clerking.

When Linda had all the details
About the illicit breach,
Her tapes set quickly in motion
Attempts and calls to impeach.

For months there were revelations,
Even word of a saved blue dress;
Nightly newscasters reported,
“The presidency’s a mess!”

Our government ground to a halt,
Nighttime comics had a field day;
Through all First Lady was mum,
All waited what Clinton would say.

“…did not have sex with that woman…”
Bill exclaimed with a stony face;
Ken Starr, special prosecutor,
Talked of an ironclad case.

Representatives sat in hearings,
Heard rumor and accusation
Of presidential wrongdoing;
There were cries for resignation.

When all was said and debated,
Our president presided.
Although impeached but not ousted,
In White House he still resided.
