frustration and confusion relating to identity struggles

The Closet

The closet abruptly forced itself open; her heart had suddenly become very vulnerable. Crying, fearing, living a lie for eight years. Her attraction, the butterflies knotted in self-denial. She knew the definition of normality and knew it did not apply to who she had become. Her childhood had been cut short because of this burden. This burden that her little secret had created. Bitter tears had been incessantly shed upon the lap of her mother. Mommy understood her baby the best. Even she had been kept in the dark. She jumped out of her dream, with her soft feet hitting the cold, wooden floor. She ran to the bathroom, looked in the mirror, and searched for a sign. Why had God created her this way? Why must life be so confusing and wasted with panicked worry? Wrestling her demons, admitting what truth she had so long denied. These must be her first steps in living again. This was about to turn her entire world upside down. Exhilaration and fear matched each other in this intimate self-realization. She was Alice in Wonderland.
