A girl dreaming of fame
Her breath caressing the oxygen mask, as her eyes opened and closed with a heartbeat. Her worn and tired body fighting the urge to give in. He took her hand and kissed it lightly.
He whispers "you can do this baby, fight it your only 18," stroking her head. Looking at her, he remembered the girl he had fallen in love with, Laila the drama queen, her beautiful brown eyes and blonde hair, the way she spoke her mind no matter how nasty or nice it was, the way her laugh gave him goosebumps.

5 years previous
"I cant wait to get going," Rosie excitedly said
"Neither can I," Laila replied. They weren't going on a school trip or on holiday, they were going to a performing arts academy, to have an interview which would hopefully secure there future as performers. They got off the coach at a unfamiliar place, they had only seen in magazines and on TV, the characteristic building looked over a pair of huge golden security gates, like ones at prisons. The girls took it all in, looking a bit daunted at what lies ahead of them.

Walking up the cold, shiny stairs the girls saw a queue of nail biting teens, some with guitars, some were going through lyrics and some were practising role play with their friends. Laila and Rosie went and stood behind a boy who was tuning his guitar, he had a cute, babyish face with a mane of brown hair surrounding it. He smiled at Laila as they both put their bags on the floor
"Hey I'm Craig, you girls excited?" The baby faced boy asked.
"Yeah, and nervous, you?" Rosie replied
"Nope I'm fine, I know I'll get a place," Craig smiled confidently
"Oh and how do you know that," Rosie said defensively
"I'm just confident," He replied winking at Laila. A Silence fell over the queue, everyone watched as the door opened
"Laila Humu," a voice shouted, "come with me please."
"Good luck," Rosie and Craig both said.
Two hours later, Craig, Laila and Rosie sat in a huge room full of red, velvet seats, up front were big black curtains that draped across a stage. Other people muttering to each other as they waited anxiously to see if they had succeeded.
"Right everyone, I'm going to call out certain names and can you please say yes if you are here, thank you," A woman with thick black hair said through a microphone. She called everyone including Craig, Laila and Rosie and then went on to say they have some good news for everyone.
"You are all to come back to start your first day in your new school in 3 weeks," the woman smiled. There was a ripple of screams and shouts throughout the auditorium.

"I got a place," Laila shouted down the phone at her mum on the way back from the school.
"When are you starting?" Her mum asked
"3 weeks time, isn't that great," Laila said excitedly
"The faster your out of my hair the better so yeah that's good," Laila's mum replied and put the phone down. Turning to her best friend Laila cuddled into Rosie's open arms.

Laila and Rosie walked round to Laila's boyfriends later that day to tell him the good news,
"Baby, I got into the performing arts academy," Laila told Danny, her boyfriend of six months, he was a tall, dark haired lad with a tan so fake that if he stood next to Jordan she would look sickly pale.
"Well done, I knew you would sweetie," Danny congratulated, picking Laila up and embracing her in a hug.
"Aww your so sweet," Laila replied giving him a kiss. They were in Danny's house when there was a knock on the door.
"Hiya, you alone?" A familiar voice said
"Your sister is here,"Danny answered
"Oh, I'll go then, see you later," she said
"Was that my sister?" Laila came out into the hallway
"No, just some girl trying to sell something, wasn't really listening."Danny lied as he hugged Laila again

Laila started packing straight away, she couldn't wait, singing away to herself as she tried to get everything into one suitcase, Rosie was packing as well but didn't know what to take so she kept asking Laila to help her.
"That Craig likes you," Rosie said to Laila
"Yeah right," Laila laughed
"He does, you saw the way he looked at you,"Rosie replied
"Yeah well even if he did, I have a boyfriend thank you very much," Laila said holding her head high
"Oh ok missy," Rosie laughed as she put another teddy in her suitcase.
"I cant believe we are doing this," Laila said excitedly
"I know, its mad," Rosie replied giving Laila a hug as they giggled like teenagers would over a crush.

2 weeks later Rosie and Laila were on there way to their new home and school, both ecstatic and hyped up.
"We're nearly there," Laila's dad told the girls who were flicking through a celebrity magazine, laughing at all the silly things the celebrities had done. As they pulled into the drive way next to the school living quarters, where the girls would be staying, the girls got out the car and looked on in awe at the fancy buildings.
"Hello girls, you must be new," said a lady who was wearing a white trouser suit to match her white permed hair.
"Yes we are, can my dad bring our things in for us," Laila smiled cheekily at her dad
"Of course he can, oh I'm so sorry i forgot to introduce myself, I am Olivia Jones, I am the head of quarters management," Olivia replied
"I am Laila and my best friend Rosie," Laila said confidently, shaking Olivia's hand,
"Ah so your Laila, there has been a lot of talk about you," Olivia said as all four of them walked towards the living quarters
"All good I hope," Laila's dad joked
"Of course, of course," Olivia smiled as she pointed to a door with "GIRLS" written on one side of it and the other "Hillberry performing arts academy." with 5 stars underneath indicating how good the school was.
"Corridor isn't for gossip, I know its been a long summer but else where girls," Olivia called down the corridor at a group of girls standing around chatting and giggling.
"Wow this place is amazing," Rosie said in amazement as she looked at the huge pictures of former students, performing and some of their graduation, among the pictures was a gold plate, the girls stopped in their tracks as they noticed the name on the plate "Lilly McConnor aged 16 winning 5 Oscar awards and 3 Emmy awards. The youngest ever Oscar winning student of Hillberry performing arts academy,"
"Oh my gosh," Laila said as she read it over and over again, "Lilly came here,"
"Yes she did, she was a lovely girl, very talented, reminds me of you actually Laila," Olivia replied smiling at the girls
"She is our biggest inspiration, she is beautifully talented, I have every film and song she ever did," Laila beamed

Olivia showed the girls their room and went through the rules with them while they unpacked their things.
"Love you dad, I am going to miss you," Laila said, hugging her dad
"I love you too hunny, it will be half term before you know it," He replied kissing her on the head "you too Rosie,"
"Thank you," Rosie said hugging Laila's dad, He had been like a dad to her since she was little when her dad left them. The girls watched Laila's dad leave in his old red Citroen as they hugged each other.
"Aww babe, it's ok, you can talk to him over the phone," Rosie said comforting her best friend as she cried.
"Yeah, I will call later, lets go in," Laila replied wiping her tears.

After the new students had an assembly, lecturing them about the rules and what happens if you don't obey the rules the girls got to settle in and sort their things out. They had a room to share, the walls were a lovely deep purple with two beds on one wall, the girls had their own little kitchen with a washing machine, a microwave, kettle and a mini fridge.
"This is like being at university," Rosie said going through the fridge "ooo there is chocolate in here,"
"You only ever think about chocolate don't you," Laila laughed as she put posters of Lilly McConnor and their celebrity crushes on the walls.
"Your so funny,"Rosie said sarcastically "there is tea, coffee and got chocolate as well,"
"This place is really good," Laila replied. They sorted all their possesions out, putting pictures of family on their bedside table, both their jewelery boxes next to the mirror that had been there already. Settling down on their beds the girls both called their families.
"Yeah it is really cool, how was mum when you got back then," Laila asked her dad
"Shouting as usual, do you want to talk to her hunny," her dad replied
"Go on then," she answered, "hi mum, you ok?"
"Yeah, I can't really talk, is it ok if your sister has your room," she moaned
"What, I've not moved out mum, I'm still at home in the half terms and summers, you trying to get rid of me?" Laila asked angrily
"Well you wont be back for another four months, and I am not trying to get rid of you, your at that school so I don't have to deal with your constant noise," her mum replied
"It's called singing actually," Laila shouted as she put the phone down.

The next morning was they had the day to get used to the school, they were getting a tour and their timetables. The girls had to group together with two other girls and a boy who happened to be the boy they met at auditions, Craig, he smiled as he walked towards Laila and Rosie
"See," Rosie teased
"I just see a polite smile," Laila laughed
"Yeah yeah," Rosie laughed
"Heya girls, Laila," Craig greeted them
"I thought we saw the last of you at the auditions," Laila giggled nervously
"You cant get rid of me that quick," Craig answered smiling
"Damn," Laila teased "So where are we off to,"
"Your coming with me children," a middle aged woman grumpily said as she came over to the group
"Wake up the wrong side of the bed," Rosie whispered to Laila sniggering
"Excuse me, no sniggering," the woman said giving Rosie a glance, "here is the drama department, don't touch anything please, if any of you are doing drama then this is where you will be, your teacher is Miss Jacobs,"
"This is really cool," Laila commented looking at the vast room, the enormous space, the sunlight reflecting off, of the mirrors covering one wall. Next they went to the singing department where there was a huge recording studio,
"I can see myself in here singing my songs," Rosie smiled, seeing her own future through her eyes.
"This place is incredible," Laila said as she looked at the high padded walls of the recording studio, with its bright, multi coloured lights, and its precious equipment.

After they had their tour of the school, they went to see what was on offer for them, it was incredible to find two restaurants on campus, clothes shops, jewelery and accessory shops,a library, a cinema and a club where the students perform their music and dance and a whole lot more, it was like your own little town. Laila and Rosie sat in a coffee shop looking around in awe of the school and everything it had to offer and how their future was going to map out in this place. Over the next few days the new students had chances to get used to everything because the school was so vast, they had tasters of their lessons, the teachers showing them what they would be doing over the first term and they also spoke to some older students who told them about what the school was like and how it has changed their lives.

A few weeks later Laila and Rosie had settled into life at the academy, having fun and working hard. Laila had singing, dancing and performing to become an actress while Rosie had performing comedy, the history of dance and studies of musical instruments. Craig, Lailia and Rosie had become good friends, going out to the Cafe together and watching movies.
"Would you like to go out on a date sometime?" Craig asked Laila shyly
"Ive got a boyfriend," Laila replied, feeling bad turning him down.
"Ok, I am always here if you need me," Craig said softly, giving Laila a kiss on the cheek before heading towards his room, it was like he knew what was going to happen next.
"Heya babe," Laila said as she picked up the phone to her sister
"I'm pregnant," Laila's sister Charlotte revealed
"You what," Laila asked adamant she had dreamt what her sister had just said.
"Its true, I am not getting rid of it, mum doesn't know yet," Charlotte replied bluntly
"Your only 13, I am not telling you to get rid of it but you have school ahead of you, this is'nt the right time for you babe," Laila told her as Rosie looked at Laila in surprise
"Oh well, this baby will be my life now," Charlotte said through tears
"Who's the dad," Laila asked
"Someone, you wouldnt know him, bye," Charlotte replied putting the phone down. Laila turned to Rosie and collapsed on the bed
"I can't believe this is happening, mum is going to have a fit," Laila said looking up at Rosie
"Bless her, she must be scared," Rosie sighed
"I didn't even know she had a boyfriend, she hardly ever goes out," Laila said, trying to work it all out "I will stand by her whatever she decides, she is my little sister, I cant just turn my back on her can I,"
"Yeah you can but your not like that," Rosie replied
"Well that's my discion, no matter what happens I am going to be beside her," Laila said, breathing her emotions out
