story about a ghost; a little girl from the 1900's who was seen in an old aprtment house
I was living in Florida then. In an apartment house that was built by Rockefeller, for his secretaries in about 1912 or so. I knew nothing of any ghosts being there,
at the time that I rented this apartment. It wasn't until later, when I had met this woman, named Eilleen, that the ghost appeared. Eilleen was the only one that could see her.I've never seen one in my whole life. But she saw it. First time she saw the ghost, it was sitting on the radiator by the window. She said the girl was wearing a white dress, of the type worn in the 1900's. The liitle girl looked to be
about seven or eight, according to Eilleen, and swinging her feet back and forth
on the radiator. At first, I thought it was in Eilleen's imagination. I told her,
"There's nobody there, Eilleen!". But she insisted there was. "Well, what's the girl's name, then?"  I asked. "Her name is Susie, and she wants me to help her."
"Help her with what?" I said, not fully beleiving the whole thing. "She wants me to help find out what happened to her!" she exclamed. "Oh, and how are you going to do that?" I enquired. "I don't know, maybe go to the courthouse and look for the records of that time?".  "Yeah, I guess we could do that", I answerered.
Another time, in the same apartment, at night, I awoke and Eilleen was staring at the door, pointing. I asked her, "What's the matter, Eilleen?"
"There's a woman, with a carriage, a baby carriage, like the old days; big rubber wheels and all, pushing it out the door; and Susie's with her, waving bye to me!"
Eilleen said. At that point, I was getting goose bumps on the back of my neck,
and the hair was standing up, shivering. I had no doubt she was seeing what she was seeing. Didn't understand why or how, but it was giving me the shivers!
Never did do any research on the place, to see what, if anything did happen.
We moved from that place and found another place across the river. We thought we could get away from that, but not so. After several months in that apartment,
Eilleen said she saw that same girl playing outside the balcony, with some other
ghost-- a young boy about her age. Nothing more came of that matter.
Then, in November, just before Thanksgiving, in 2003, Eilleen herself passed away. She had taken a tumble down the apartment stairs one day, taken to the
hospital and treated for head concussion. She would not stay overnight, as advised by the doctor. She came home instead. She told me to go Kayaking,
as she knew I enjoyed doing, but I was reluctant that day. I felt I should stay
there with her, in case. She didn't want me hanging around her all day, to keep watch over her. She was very independent, stubborn minded woman. I went out, reluctantly, to the river. When I returned later in the day, there were police
and EMT's there. The apartment was blocked off with crime scene tape, while police investigated. When I found out what had happened, I fell to pieces.I was in shock!  A friend of ours had found her, laying by the couch.
Now, some could speculate, that maybe the ghosts or poltergeists were
involved in this incident. All I know is, she took a tumble down the stairs and died as a result of the concussion received from the fall. Let others think what they may!
