It waits for the chance at revenge, but in the end, is it really revenge?
Written for Stormy's Poetry Newsletter &Contest.  Bold words are prompt.

It

It sat there waiting, silent, deadly, dangerous, but unseen
The bulky massive shape shimmered with a dark sickening sheen
It had a simple goal in mind, one every living creature knows
Survival plain and simple, just what one would suppose

At the dawn of the previous day, it was just a man
No one very special, would not be missed by his clan
In his walk through the woods, he saw a witch that he passed
With a sweep of her hand, he was bewitched, in a spell he was cast

With the spell in place, it found there were special powers
Held tenderly in his grasp, like precious summer flowers
But it knew in its heart, if indeed it had one still
That the witch would have to pay, for exerting her will

Revenge was on its mind, against the one who’d put it here
Unable to move much, trying hard to overhear
The chanting of the coven, the witches and their spells
It couldn’t help but notice, the stench of its smells

Though it was a massive shape, its spirit couldn’t be broken
It remained eternally alert, since in this form it had awoken
Waiting for that one chance, to catch her while she slept
Do to her what she’d done to him, watching while she wept

It would send her to a wilderness, of timeless winter’s cold
A place that would keep her, like lamb’s kept in their fold
The witch thought she was safe, everyday she’d awaken
Snuggled in her bed, in all this she was sadly mistaken

For slow though he moved, his powers had great reach
Now was the time, and a lesson he would teach
He lured her from her coven with a song sweet and low
The notes hung on the breeze, drifting by so very slow

The musical notes were special, magical and laden
And it turned that old witch, to a lovely young maiden
Now she was cursed, no longer a haggard old witch
But youthful, beautiful, yet back she longed to switch

So a bargain was struck, between the two odd outcasts
One slowly became a man once more, happy at long last
The other became a witch, much more cautious than before
Not casting spells on others, loving that man forevermore

For his spell had taught her love, something she’d never known
She found herself longing for him, no longer just a crone
Slowly her beauty returned as her love slowly grew
Together they became a couple, and started life anew
