Childrens poem/story about a stowaway aboard a pirate ship.
Stowaway Stan

A long way from home, as far as can be,
A beautiful pirate ship bobs on the sea.
The name of this craft is 'The Perilous Peeps',
And somewhere onboard, a stowaway sleeps.

On day one of the voyage a pirate named Hugh
Was searching the ship and counting its crew.
When all of a sudden he spies a young man
Asleep in the galley, it's Stowaway Stan!
'Hello', says Hugh, 'I don't think I've met you?
What is your name? And what do you do?'
Stan quickly thinks of something to say
Then tells his story to Hugh in this way;
'My name is Stan and I am the cook,
I make all the meals from my trusty cook book.
I tell you the truth sir, believe what I say,
Now if that is all, I'll bid you good day.'
Before pirate Hugh can even reply
Stan ups and legs it in the blink of an eye.
'What a strange man!' Says pirate Hugh,
'I think I'll keep an eye on you.'

On day two of the voyage a pirate named Hugh
Was searching the ship and counting its crew.
When all of a sudden he spies a young man
Asleep in the crows nest, it's Stowaway Stan!
'Hello', says Hugh 'I don't think I've met you?
What is your name? And what do you do?'
Stan quickly thinks of something to say
Then tells his story to Hugh in this way;
'My name is Stan and I'm the look-out,
If I see a ship then you'll hear me shout.
I tell you the truth sir, believe what I say
Now if that is all I'll bid you good day.'
Before pirate Hugh can even reply
Stan ups and legs it in the blink of an eye.
'What a strange man!' Says pirate Hugh,
'I think I'll keep my eye on you.'

On day three of the voyage a pirate named Hugh
Was searching the ship and counting its crew.
When all of a sudden he spies a young man
Asleep in the hold, it's Stowaway Stan!
'Hello' says Hugh, 'I don't think I've met you?
What is your name? And what do you do?'
Stan quickly thinks of something to say
Then tells his story to Hugh in this way;
'My name is Stan and I'm the first mate
I was down in the hold just securing this crate.
I tell you the truth sir, believe what I say
Now if that is all, I'll bid you good day.'
Before pirate Hugh can even reply
Stan ups and legs it in the blink of an eye.
'What a strange man!' Says pirate Hugh,
'I think I'll keep my eye on you'.

On day four of the voyage a pirate named Hugh
Said, ‘I’m bored of counting this crew.
Something quite fishy is going on I fear,
There's an awful lot of Stan's round here.
Everyone I've counted all look the same,
They all sound alike and they share the same name.
I'm sure that there's something odd with this crew
And I think its time the Captain knew'.
So Hugh knocked upon the Captain's door
And can you guess who he saw?
There before Hugh stood a young man
Dressed as the Captain, its Stowaway Stan!
'Hello pirate Hugh, how do you do?
I've heard people say good things about you'.
All Hugh can do is stare and frown,
'I think I need to have a lie-down!'
'Well if you insist' says Captain Stan,
'That really is a very good plan.
In fact I think that all of the crew,
Have got some catching up on sleep to do'.

A long way from home, as far as can be
A beautiful pirate ship bobs on the sea.
The name of this craft is ‘The Perilous Peeps'
And somewhere on board a stowaway sleeps.
