Writer's Cramp entry.
It was a beautiful warm autumn day, but today was a sad day. Standing next to Katie and Jake we mourned our friend Robert. It all happened about a week ago after the party in the foothills.

I pulled up to Roberts house in my car. Me and Katie get out and walk up to the front door. Robert answers the door to greet us. We walk in the house. People where just arriving. It was like any other typical Friday night. It felt like it was going to be a good night.

Katie and I went and sat down on the couch together. Jake was sitting in the loveseat across from us. Me and Jake started talking about some new game that was coming out in a couple of weeks. Robert comes up and joins us. As the night went by and it got late people started clearing out.

Me, Katie, John, and Robert where getting hungry. We decided to go get some late night fast food. We all pile into my car with Katie sitting next to me, Robert right behind me, and Jake right behind Katie.

We pull out on to the main road on the way to our favorite burrito place, but also the only place open this late at night. We come to an intersection and I stop at the red light. We are all having a good time talking about the nights events, The light turns green and I pull out into the intersection to cross the street and then every thing goes dark.

I wake up in a hospital bed later the next afternoon. Katie is sitting in a chair by my side with a worried look on her face. She was relieved to see that I have woken. She had been sitting by my side since I arrived at the hospital waiting for me to wake. She tells me what happened last night. When I pulled out into the intersection another car ran a red light and slammed into the side of my car. She said I was knocked unconscious and tells me that her and Jake where ok. I ask about Robert and grim look comes over her face. She tells me he was killed in the accident. My face goes pale and tears start to run down Katie’s face.

Later that evening I get discharged from the hospital. Jake came and picked Katie and I up to take us home. Jake had a cut on the left side of his face where a shard of glass cut him open. We rode home in silence no one saying a word.

It had been almost a week since the accident. Today was Roberts funeral. My car had been totaled in the accident so Jake came to pick me and Katie up. I hadn’t seen him since the ride home from the hospital. The cut on face was almost healed but you could tell it was going to leave a scar. We had all been friends with Robert since Elementary School. We talked about all the good times we had growing up together.

We arrived at the cemetery. There where a lot of people here. Robert had a lot of friends and family who loved him. The three of us where asked to speak at the funeral since we where the last ones with him. Me then, Katie, and then Jake went up one by one and shared our memories of Robert and spoke our peace to him. Roberts mother was the last to come up and speak. She had tears rolling down her face. It was obviously a very sad day for her. As Roberts mother stepped down, they turned their backs and walked away as the coffin was lowered into the ground.
