No Words

In the childs' big, round eyes I see
A reflection of the bewilderment I feel in me.

Who will give me an answer
that a child can understand.
How do I explain about a Russian
or Afghani with a gun in his hand.
" Yes, he has little children"
I can answer ,when they ask about his life.
" Why would he want to kill me,
doesn't he love his wife ?"

Okay..okay.. tell them the whole world's crazy,
It's no big deal.
It's been going on for centuries;
man's urge to kill.
" but doesn't he love his children?"
No he lets them starve.
"but he wouldn't really kill them",
Son , he already has.
