Learning to live with insecurity
I'm the girl you walk by every day on the street and do not speak to because I'm fat. I can smile, and you'll smile back... but it's only out of politeness.

I'm the girl you'll hear laugh and turn around to look at, but once you see my face, you go back to what you were doing. The laugh that sounded infectious and gave you reason to give notice is tarnished because I am not pretty. I'm the annoying fat girl now.

I'm the girl you see head shots of on the net and decide you need to talk to me, but once you see my body, you find a way to get out of it. You don't want to be seen with the fat girl.

I'm the girl who no longer watches love stories. I do not believe anything like that could ever happen to me. They are now just a painful reminder of what I am not and will not have.

I'm the girl who is every guy's best friend, but no one's true companion. I can entertain you, but I will never enthrall you.

I'm the girl who under the hard, sarcastic exterior is still holding out for a guy who will see who I really am and want me for me. The one who will believe in me... who will let me fly... but who also will know me deep inside... who will call me on my bs when I am trying to protect myself...

I'm the girl looking for the real guy... I'm the girl who's been hurt... been traumatized... been convinced that love does not exist, but deep down inside holds out for that one guy... the one guy who can prove her wrong... who can show her that it is possible... that real men with genuine feelings are out there... the one who can show her who she really is.
